Sabbatical - Day 8
BySince I stayed up reading last night, I slept in until 8:00 this morning. We dropped Jeanine’s van at the shop, and I made it to my study around 10:00 a.m. I spent some time reading Luke 24 and lingering on the idea of Jesus teaching about His life, suffering, death, and resurrection from the Law, Psalms and prophets. Oh, how I wish I would have been on the road to Emmaus that day!
I spent my prayer time asking God for much grace for the ministries of High Pointe. It is such a great privilege and joy to work with faithful ministry leaders, and I am excited to see what they are doing to advance the kingdom.
Well, I had one goal today - finish chapter 1 of my dissertation. I spent the remainder of the morning looking for articles through the Southern Seminary Library from the internet - technology is amazing. I gathered quite a few articles this morning.
After lunch (leftovers), I proceeded to tackle writing. It took my a while to get going, but once I did the Lord was gracious. It is now 8:20 p.m., and I am still in my study at the church office, but I can say that I finished a rough draft of chapter one and am well on my way in chapter two. Praise God, for He is good!
I’ve printed up chapter one and plan on reading through it in the morning just to be sure it makes sense. Tomorrow, I begin reading and planning for chapter two, thought I’m already six pages into it.
I want once again to thank High Pointe and our elders for this time away. The ability to focus my energies solely on this work has been tremendously helpful.
